XVERSE

XVERSE (元象) is a Chinese AI and 3D technology company founded in early 2021 in Shenzhen by former Tencent vice president Yao Xing, who previously led Tencent AI Lab and Robotics X Lab . The company has repositioned from its original focus on a next-generation 3D content production and consumption platform—built on proprietary "end-cloud collaborative" 3D interactive technology—to a dual emphasis on AI large language models and 3D infrastructure .

In March 2022, XVERSE raised $120 million across its Series A and A+ rounds, with Sequoia China leading the A+ round and Hillhouse leading the prior A round; existing investors Gaorong Ventures, 5Y Capital, and Hillhouse continued from the angel round, while Temasek and CPE Source Peak joined as new investors . By late 2023, the company had shifted visibly into open-source LLMs, releasing a 65-billion-parameter model XVERSE-65B for unconditional free commercial use, alongside smaller 7B and 13B variants developed under compute constraints . Gaorong Ventures, which co-led the angel round, described the company in 2025 as pursuing "AI + 3D" to unlock a more realistic and intelligent digital world .
