Insilico Medicine Releases Industry's First "Drug Discovery Benchmark Assessment"
To address data contamination issues in public evaluation standards and more accurately measure AI capabilities in real-world drug discovery tasks, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company and generative AI-driven clinical-stage biotechnology company Insilico Medicine (03696.HK) recently released the "Drug Discovery Benchmark Assessment" (DDD Benchmarks), simultaneously launching a BaaS business centered on benchmark assessment, open to all institutions dedicated to developing cutting-edge AI for drug discovery or researching the application of benchmark models in this field.

Dr. Alex Zhavoronkov, Founder and CEO of Insilico Medicine, stated: "The rapid evolution of AI has made one question urgently pressing: can these models actually make new drugs? For over a decade, our team has been building and validating generative AI across the entire drug discovery workflow, nominating 31 preclinical candidate compounds within six years and advancing a fully AI-driven discovered and designed drug to Phase III clinical trials. The DDD Benchmarks testing system externalizes this experience into rigorous, standardized benchmarks available for industry-wide use. On the path toward pharmaceutical superintelligence, only by examining genuine hard capabilities rather than answer-memorizing abilities can we ensure that AI truly delivers high-quality, differentiated new drugs and genuinely extends healthy lifespan on a global scale."

R&D Progress
01/ YaoYing Medical Co-organizes 6th Annual Meeting of Shanghai Medical Association's Psychosomatic Medicine Branch
Recently, the 6th Annual Academic Meeting of the Psychosomatic Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association was successfully held. Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Shanghai YaoYing Hospital participated deeply as a co-organizer, joining over a hundred experts and scholars from across the country to explore standardized diagnosis and treatment and cutting-edge directions in mind-body integration.

As a representative of the co-organizing institution, Dr. Haoying Shi, President of Shanghai YaoYing Hospital, stated in her opening address that psychosomatic medicine is the bridge connecting physical and mental health, and an important practical vehicle for the "biological-psychological-social" modern medical model. YaoYing Medical has gradually built a cross-professional team-based psychological protection network, with particular focus on children and adolescents. Since establishing the "YaoXinYu" Adolescent and Family Mental Health Center in 2023, through the coordinated efforts of psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and family education instructors with surrounding schools and communities, psychological services have been extended from the clinic to campuses and families.
Looking ahead, Dr. Shi proposed two directions for industry collaboration: first, building a tiered collaborative psychosomatic service network, promoting standardized diagnosis and treatment from tertiary hospitals down to the community level, and exploring the use of intelligent assistive tools to empower grassroots general practitioners, lowering the threshold for identifying psychosomatic issues and strengthening the foundation of tiered diagnosis and treatment; second, leveraging YaoYing's mature international medical cooperation network to continue building academic exchange bridges between China and abroad, introducing international cutting-edge intervention concepts while exporting local clinical practices, particularly in the field of adolescent mental health, to develop replicable service paradigms that allow psychosomatic medicine to deliver greater social value.

Shize Biotech Completes Full Enrollment for Phase II Registration Clinical Trial of Universal Cell Therapy for Parkinson's Disease
Recently, Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Shize Biotech announced that its self-developed allogeneic universal "off-the-shelf" iPSC-derived dopaminergic neural progenitor cell injection XS411 for the treatment of idiopathic Parkinson's disease has successfully completed full enrollment in its nationwide multi-center Phase II registration clinical trial.

The trial adopts the internationally widely recognized PROBE blinded assessment design (Prospective, Randomized, Open-label, Blinded Endpoint), which, compared with traditional single-arm open-label clinical studies, provides significantly higher-grade evidence-based medicine. While accommodating the clinical implementation characteristics of cell therapy, it further improves study quality through randomized controlled design and blinded endpoint assessment, providing more reliable efficacy evidence for subsequent Phase III registration clinical trials and marketing approval.

Pulnovo Medical's PADN System Secures Market Approval in Malaysia and Baltic States
Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company and global pioneer in breakthrough therapies for pulmonary hypertension and heart failure Pulnovo Medical recently announced a series of major advances in multinational regulatory access. Following market approval in Indonesia for its self-developed Pulmonary Artery Denervation (PADN) system — including the PADN circular pulmonary artery radiofrequency ablation catheter and the PHD360 pulmonary artery radiofrequency ablation instrument — the company has consecutively obtained regulatory access in Malaysia and the three Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) for the treatment of Group 1 Pulmonary Hypertension.

Cynthia Chen, Chairwoman and President of Pulnovo Medical, stated: "This series of密集 approvals spanning Asia and Europe represents a highly symbolic step in Pulnovo Medical's global commercialization layout, and further confirms our long-term commitment to regional markets. Taking Malaysia as an example, as early as 2024, we took the lead in launching the PADN-Columbus trial for Group 2 Pulmonary Hypertension here and successfully completed the enrollment of the first batch of patients. This made Malaysia the earliest ASEAN country to participate in the clinical exploration of Pulnovo's original technology. From the cross-national clinical research collaboration back then to the formal approval to enter Malaysia today and now covering the entire Baltic region, this is the fruition of our years of deep cultivation of regional clinical cooperation and insistence on opening multilateral markets with hardcore clinical value."
