Tencent AI Lab

Tencent AI Lab was an AI research division inside Tencent whose alumni have gone on to found several prominent Chinese startups. The lab is best known for producing the Go-playing AI "Jueyi" (绝艺) and the Honor of Kings game AI "Juewu" (绝悟), both developed under Yongsheng Liu, who served as general manager and left to found game-AI startup Hyperparameter in early 2019 . Another key figure, Yao Xing, who led both Tencent AI Lab and the Robotics X lab as a Tencent vice president, departed in 2021 to establish XVERSE (元象科技), an AI and 3D technology company . The lab's researchers have also turned up at newer ventures such as Mindverse, a roughly 30-person team building personalized AI agents and LoRA-based reinforcement learning systems, whose members include alumni from DeepSeek, OpenAI, and Tencent AI Lab .
