Tencent AI Lab

Tencent AI Lab is the AI research division of Tencent, known for developing world-class game AI systems including the Go-playing AI "Jueyi" and the Honor of Kings AI "Juewu" . The lab's expertise spans machine learning, reinforcement learning, and large-scale systems engineering, with its leadership and technical talent subsequently becoming founders of prominent AI startups in the Chinese venture ecosystem. Notably, former Tencent AI Lab general manager Liu Yongsheng (刘永升, also known as Kakar Liu) left to found Superparameter Technology (超参数科技) in early 2019, a "living AI" company that raised $100 million in Series B funding led by Sequoia China in January 2022 with follow-on from 5Y Capital and Gaorong Capital .
