World Artificial Intelligence Conference

The World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) is an annual AI summit held in Shanghai, co-hosted by Chinese central government ministries and the Shanghai municipal government . The 2024 edition featured over 500 exhibitors, 1,500+ exhibits, and more than 300,000 offline visitors, with a theme of "Governing AI for Good and for All" focused on large models, computing power, robotics, and autonomous driving . By 2025, the event had grown to over 3,000 exhibits with tickets selling out three days before opening, and Turing Award and Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton delivering the opening keynote . Venture firms such as Yunqi Capital treat WAIC as a major platform for their portfolio companies—MiniMax, Qunhe Technology, Yuanrong Qixing, and others—to launch products and demonstrate advances in embodied intelligence and AI agents .
