Chainway (链宇科技) is a Chinese energy hard-tech startup working on AI-driven energy management and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. It was founded in the winter of 2021 by Qin Yudi, a Tsinghua PhD born in 1997 who was then captain of Tsinghua's future-automobile interest team — per a ZhenFund profile, he and his co-founders started out in an unheated garage on the second floor of an abandoned auto-parts market . ZhenFund backed it at the angel stage , and in 2022 Toyota entered a strategic partnership and invested, with Chainway named among the world's top ten V2G innovators (the only Chinese company on the list); overseas it also works with Shell . More recently, per ZhenFund's news updates, it joined SAIC-GM-Wuling in a national-level V2G scaled-application pilot .
