Hero Games

Hero Games is a Chinese game company co-founded by Daniel (吴旦) and Ying Shuling (应书岭), where Daniel served as president . The firm is best known as the first and, for years, sole outside investor in Game Science, the studio behind *Black Myth: Wukong*. In 2017, Hero Games provided Game Science with RMB 60 million in angel funding for a 20% stake, then doubled down with at least another RMB 100 million to become the project's sole co-publisher . According to a 2022 annual report cited by 暗涌Waves, Hero Games later sold its Game Science stake for RMB 480 million, with partial payment deferred to April 2025 . The company has since shifted toward self-developed titles . Daniel, who led these bets, was described by miHoYo's Liu Wei as "the strongest investor in China's gaming industry over the past five years" .
