Qian Wang

Qian Wang (王潜) is the founder and CEO of Independent Variable Robotics (自变量机器人), an embodied-intelligence robotics company that has raised consecutive funding rounds worth hundreds of millions of yuan with participation from Yunqi Capital . He holds a Tsinghua background (Electronics Department, class of 2007) and has positioned his company around a distinctive technical thesis: rather than treating general-purpose robots as extensions of language models, he argues that physical-world foundation models are entirely independent from virtual-world language and multimodal models . Under his leadership, Independent Variable Robotics developed the Quanta X2 wheeled humanoid robot with a 20-DOF five-finger dexterous hand, completed in under six months and fully self-developed . Wang has represented the company at major industry forums including IROS and the World Robot Conference, and presented to Premier Li Qiang in January 2026 .
