Shukun Technology

Shukun Technology (数坤科技) is a Chinese medical AI company built around medical imaging, founded by 毛新生 and backed early by 5Y Capital — which led its Series A in July 2018 and kept investing through later rounds — alongside Qiming Venture Partners, Sequoia China, and others. Its early identity was "AI for images": flagship products like "数字心" (digital heart) and "数字脑" automated the imaging-diagnosis workflow end-to-end, were deployed in 400+ top-tier hospitals by 2020, and by mid-2021 the company held 10+ medical device registration certificates spanning heart, brain, lung, bone and abdomen — leading the medical-AI field on that count. Funding scaled fast in that phase: roughly 1 billion yuan raised in late 2020, then another 700 million yuan in July 2021 to fund its "digital human body" (数字人体) platform.

The more recent framing, per 2025 reporting, is "智能原生" (AI-native) company anchored on its self-developed "数坤坤" multimodal medical large model — deployed inside Shenzhen People's Hospital with Huawei's DeepSeek-R1 in early 2025, and the basis of a full-pipeline tumor-diagnosis system that won the 2024 Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award first prize. Its regulatory footprint has also gone international: EU MDR certification for four AI products in 2025, and on September 5, 2025 its coronary CTA and plaque-analysis system picked up FDA 510(k) clearance — its third US approval, which per 5Y Capital's monthly makes it the only medical AI company with FDA-cleared AI diagnosis across cardiac, head-neck and cranial pipelines.
