Shengshu Technology and Tsinghua University Release
Embodied Video Foundation Model Vidar
Recently, Vidar, an embodied video foundation model jointly developed by Tsinghua University and Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company Shengshu Technology, was officially released. Through an innovative "video foundation model + embodied artificial intelligence" technical approach, the model effectively achieves low-cost, few-shot robot training — requiring only 20 minutes of real robot training data to reach high generalization, dramatically lowering the data barrier for large-scale generalization on robots. This provides an innovative solution to the data dilemma that has plagued the embodied AI industry for years, and brings genuine hope for true generalization in robots executing complex tasks in the real world.
As a major breakthrough extending the video foundation model Vidu into embodied intelligence, Vidar is the world's first multi-view embodied foundation model to systematically transfer video understanding capabilities to physical decision-making based on a general video foundation model. The model innovatively constructs a multi-view video prediction framework supporting dual-arm collaborative tasks for robots, demonstrating significant few-shot learning advantages while maintaining SOTA performance. The fine-tuned model can complete multi-view dual-arm tasks, achieving "say the instruction, do the task."
This research breakthrough significantly advances robot capabilities in two areas: multi-task operation and flexible adaptation to environmental changes, laying solid technical groundwork for future service robots to perform in complex real-world environments such as homes, hospitals, and factories. It also means that from algorithmic training in virtual worlds to autonomous action in real environments, Vidar is building the critical bridge that finally allows AI to "get its feet on the ground" and serve our physical world.
