suho

Suho (苏昊) is a leading Chinese researcher in embodied AI and 3D vision who recently returned to China from academia in the United States. He currently serves as Fudan University's Haoqing Distinguished Professor and director of the Institute of General Physical Intelligence, a position he took up in April 2026 . He also serves as chief technology advisor to Shanghai-based embodied AI startup SurgeTech (苏度科技), which was founded in May 2025 and recently debuted its first public model, Sudo R1 .

Suho's academic pedigree is distinguished: he studied under Leonidas Guibas, Li Wei, Harry Shum, and Fei-Fei Li, and was one of the core creators of ImageNet. He also led foundational work on ShapeNet and PointNet . Prior to returning to China, he was a tenured associate professor at UC San Diego and directed its Embodied AI Lab . His return coincides with the Chinese government's broader push to recruit top AI talent back from overseas institutions.
