On September 4, 36Kr sent research invitations to 3,700 venture capital institutions and surveyed 800 startup founders. Based on comprehensive evaluation, it released the 2018 China Top 100 Venture Capital Firms / Investors Most Welcomed by Entrepreneurs ranking.

Over the past four years, the venture capital industry grew rapidly, producing a cohort of unicorn companies and star entrepreneurs. By 2018, this once geometrically expanding industry entered a capital winter, prompting a comprehensive period of self-reflection. Investors and entrepreneurs — the most important participants in China's new economic development — moved from a gold-rush era into an era of refining value, gradually returning to business fundamentals.

At the same time, 36Kr sent research invitations to 471 investment institutions and, through analysis of 2,838 investment projects across different funding rounds in four sectors from 2015 to 2018 — "online education," "enterprise services," "WeChat ecosystem," and "new consumption" — produced China's Top Investment Firm rankings for these four industries.

Investment Firm / Investor Score = Investment Capability Score × 45% + Entrepreneur Score × 45% + Online Influence × 10%

For the investment capability dimension, we evaluated investment firms based on the number of projects invested, total investment amount, follow-on financing rate, project engagement level, exit capability, and number of star projects during the period from 2015 to June 30, 2018. The specific scoring model is as follows.

Entrepreneur Scoring Dimension (Weight: 45%)

36Kr sent survey questionnaires to financing leads at 800 startups, rating investment firms and investors on HR support, marketing and brand support, financial / legal compliance, follow-on capital and industry resource support, and providing an overall evaluation. For this portion of the ranking, 36Kr received responses from 536 startups across various sectors and funding rounds.
