Huaiting Zhang

Huaiting Zhang is a serial entrepreneur in China's AI-education sector, currently the founder and CEO of Yuaiweiwu (与爱为舞) . He joined Baidu in 2005 and helped build its Phoenix Nest (凤巢) advertising system from scratch, leading a model team that produced several prominent scientists and entrepreneurs . In 2014, he co-founded Genshuixue (跟谁学, later rebranded as Gaotu), where he took his shareholding down from 22% to 6% before IPO to distribute equity to the team . He launched Yuaiweiwu in 2023 at age 46, choosing to enter AI education when the industry was at its most pessimistic — "others aren't doing it, so I'll do it; that's the best opportunity" . The company released its first AI product, the "Aixue" app, in March 2025, introducing digital-human teachers for one-on-one classroom instruction that by late 2025 could handle entire junior-high courses without human intervention . Zhang has kept fundraising deliberately restrained: across four rounds totaling roughly $150 million, he turned down an $80 million angel-round offer and kept only $25 million, telling investors "we can't take that much" . He takes no salary and continues to co-invest in each round himself . His backers include ZhenFund, GaoRong Capital, BlueRun Ventures, Qiming Venture Partners, and Sequoia China .
