Qitan Technology

Qitan Technology (齐碳科技) is a Chinese nanopore gene sequencing company that positions itself as the domestic leader in fourth-generation sequencing technology. It was described in 2020 as the first Chinese company to independently develop a nanopore gene sequencer and obtain stable sequencing data, filling what it called a gap in the country's next-generation sequencing capabilities . The company launched its QNome-9604 instrument in September 2020, billed as China's first self-developed fourth-generation nanopore single-molecule gene sequencer , and by late 2021 was preparing to release what it described as the first fully self-developed domestic nanopore sequencer ready for mass production .

The company has raised multiple rounds from prominent investors. Gaorong Ventures led its RMB 100 million+ Series A in May 2020 , participated in its RMB 400 million+ Series B in June 2021 alongside Hillhouse and CDH VGC , and joined its RMB 700 million Series C in late 2022 . A C+ round was announced in December 2023 with investors including Ceyuan Capital and Chengdu Bio-Town Fund . Jingwei Bai, one of the company's co-founders and its chief scientist, was described in 2021 as a leading figure in China's nanopore single-molecule gene sequencing field .
