Gaotu Techedu, formerly known as 跟谁学 (Genshuixue), is a Chinese online education company founded by Larry Chen (陈向东), previously an executive president at New Oriental . Gaorong Ventures led its Series A round in 2015, after which the company notably did not raise further primary-market funding and instead achieved profitability through its own cash generation by Q3 2018 . It listed on the New York Stock Exchange in June 2019 under the ticker "GSX" at $10.50 per ADS . The company was positioned within the online dual-teacher live large-class segment, which saw accelerated adoption during the pandemic period . Zhang Huaiting (张怀亭), a founding team member from Baidu's "Fengchao" system, later reflected that while the direction of personalized education was right, the technology had not yet matured during the company's early years; he has since moved on to new AI education ventures .
