袁野 is a partner at 5Y Capital (五源资本), where he has been since at least 2020 and remains as of late 2024 . He joined the firm as a junior investor in 2011 and is known for sourcing Kuaishou from its earliest days—finding GIF Kuaishou creator Cheng Yixiao on Weibo, writing him a cold email, and introducing him to partner Zhang Fei, which led to 5Y's angel investment . He has since led or been closely involved with deals including Keep's $360 million Series F, men's grooming brand Liran's Series B, and data infrastructure company StartDT, whose founder described him as "transparent, clear, and spirited" with an ability to see to the essence of problems . In 2022, 暗涌Waves quoted his investment philosophy as favoring concentrated bets over diversification—"better to be more careful about which basket"—and respecting the difficulty of domain switching, noting that "there is no flexibility, only less expansion into different fields" .
